VERY SIMPLE, AND WHATS MORE, PERFECT!
A nice comedy titled: ?Volga, Volga? was played before war. In this movie, a cheerful waterbearer horsewhips his lazy horse and sings a song at the same time.
"We use water everywhere. We are nowhere without it..."
The song earned great success and its words became a saying which is still cited.
There is a very important truth hidden in this simple song. Water is really the number one matter of our lives. H2O. One atom oxygen and two atoms hydrogen. Perhaps water is the first chemical formula that we learn by heart. Try to imagine what our planet would be if water disappeared suddenly in this moment.
...frightening bottomless ?wholes? in the sea and ocean areas, the edges of which are covered with thick layers of salt. Dry river beds, sources which will never well again. Rocks that turned to dust. One of the main factors of all the abovementioned scenarios is the following.
Regardless whether it is a young tree or a flower: everything is breathless on a dead earth. And a cloudless sky having a scary color above all this.
The existence of an animal which is a very simple matter but is intelligent or not is not possible before the birth of water.
Why? Because; before all else, the most amazing chemical matter in the world is water.
Celsius had based his instrument on two values or two coefficients when he invented his thermometer: the boiling point and the freezing point of water. He accepted the first equal to 100°C and the second equal to zero and divided these in 100 partitions. Thus, the first instrument that allowed to measure the heat was born.
What would Celsius thought if he knew that in fact water neither freezes completely at zero nor does it boil at 100°?
In the present, scientists agree on the point that water is a big swindler. The most exceptional matter of the globe is water.
Scientists allege that water can boil in temperatures lower than 180°, i.e. in minus 80°. However, rules required in the Periodical System enable water to boil in such a low temperature.
The elements in any group of the Periodical System, especially the light elements relative regularly change upwards to the heavier ones. For example, let us handle the boiling point.
The change of the properties of compounds is not cursory but depends on the settlement of the elements including the molecules on the Mendeleyev Schedule. This is true especially for the hydrogen compounds, i.e. the hydrides of the elements of the same group.
Water can be named oxygen hydride. Oxygen is member of the sixth group. Sulfur, selenium, tellurium and polonium are also in this group. The hydrides of these elements have the same molecular structure as the water molecule: H2S, H2Se, H2Te and H2Po. The boiling points of these components change regularly starting from sulfur and going towards the heavier brothers so that we see surprisingly that the boiling point of water exits this series. This temperature is higher than it should be. Water rejects the information on the Periodical Schedule related the rules of behavior and delays its transition to the gas stage for 180°. This is only the first exceptional behavior of water.
The second oddity is related to its freezing point. The laws of the Periodical System foresee that water will solidify at 100° below zero. Water unscrupulously violates this proposition and turns to ice at zero.
From this stubbornness of water, it is clear that the fluid and solid stages are abnormal compared with the earth.
According to the rules, water should be present on the earth only in form of vapor. Imagine now a world, where the features of water are in conformity with the strict rules of the Periodical System. Such a unique view would constitute a perfect basis for science-fiction authors to prepare entertaining novels and stories. But it would imply quite a different meaning for us and the scientists. The structure of the Periodical Scheme is much more complicated than it appears on the first sight. The personalities therein are very similar to humans whom we are unable to keep within specific borders. Water has a stubborn personality.
What is the reason?
The reason is, that water molecules are in a specific arrangement and therefore display the significant ability to affect each other. It is to no avail to search for a single water molecule in a glass of water. Molecules build groups that scientists call combination so that it would be correct to write the formula of water in form of (H2O)n where the symbol "n" shows the number of molecules in company. It is very hard to crack the connective bonds between the water molecules. This is the reason why water freezes and boils at higher temperatures than expected.
WATER: JUICE OF LIFE, REVIVING, EVERYWHERE AVAILABLE
Many folk tales base on the legend of "life juice": healing wounds, reviving the dead. Toughening the weakling, increasing the power of the braves a hundred times.
It is no coincidence that mankind attached water such magic features. To live on the planet earth, to be surrounded with green trees and flowery soils, our ability to sail in a boat, to jump over water puddles in the summer when it rains, to go skiing or skating in the winters is all possible thanks to water. If to be clearer, all these bases on the ability of water molecules to affect each other and to build combinations. This is one of the conditions for the start and development of life on our planet.
It is not false to say that the history of planet earth is at the same time the history of water. Water has changed the face of our planet and carries on to do so.
Water is the biggest chemist on earth. Not even one process with a mountain is possible without it. Neither a new mineral, a new rock formation can materialize, nor can complex biochemical reactions in the organisms of plants and animals take place.
Chemists cannot do much in their laboratories without water. They can work very rarely without water when analyzing the characteristics of the matters and when obtaining new compounds. One of the best solvents known is water. Many materials can put the solutions within water in reaction after preparation.
What happens when a matter dissolves? The interaction forces on their surfaces between the molecules and between the atoms weaken in water hundreds of times so that they finally break from the surface and enter the water. One piece of sugar in a cup of tea is divided in its molecules. Table salt gets discomposed in its ions consisting of sodium and chlorine. The water molecule shows, in accordance with its own specific structure, a great talent in affecting the atoms and molecules of the dissolved mass. From this point of view, many other solvents are deficient comparing with water.
No rock exists on the earth which is able to resist against the divisive impact of water. Even granites split off slowly but unerringly. Water carries the materials it dissolves to the seas and oceans. This is the reason why huge water masses containing fresh water became salty...
THE SECRETS OF THE ICICLE
Little children love to play with icicles. These are lovely, sparkling things. The child thievishly puts the piece of ice in its mouth. Does it taste so good? If you want trouble then try to take it away from the child.
Is it just a funny, childish desire? No, the situation is much more serious.
A test was made on chicks. One group received normal water to drink, the others received melted snow water with ice particles swimming in it. A test couldn?t be simpler than this. But the results were amazing. The chicks which drank normal water were quite calm and hadn?t fret at all. But the pan full with snow water turned each time to a horrible battlefield. The chicks swallowed the water greedily if it had a different taste.
After one and a half month the chicks were weighed. Those given melted snow water were much heavier. They gained much more weight than the chicks which drank normal water.
Briefly, melted snow water displayed significant and marvelous characteristics. It was very good for living creatures. Well, what was the reason?
First it was thought that this was because the amount of deuterium in melted water was higher. The tiny steady state concentrations accelerated the development of the creatures. But this was only partially the fact...
Presently it is believed that the actual reason bases on something else than the process of melting.
Ice has a crystalline structure. But generally said, water is also a fluid crystal. Its molecules are not completely irregular and form an even cage skeleton. But naturally its structure is different from that of ice.
Ice keeps its structure for a long time when it melts. In other words, melted water is a fluid but its molecules keep the "arrangement of ice". Therefore the chemical activity of melted water is higher when compared with normal water. It easily participates in the directory of biochemical processes. It combines with various materials in the organism much faster than normal water.
Scientists believe that the structure of the water in the organism are similar to the structure of ice. When the organism dissolves normal water, the structure of water rearranges. Since melted water has already the desired structure, the organism doesn?t have to spend any additional energy for the rearrangement of the molecules.
As it is evident, the role of melted water in life is a big part.
